Examining Future Funding Directions for Ontario
With the Ontario budget outlining a plan to decrease growth in health spending by the current 6% annual rate to 3.1%, Adalsteinn Brown seeks to answer the question: How do we ensure appropriate access to high quality health services while containing growth in expenditures? As Ontario’s assistant deputy minister for health system strategy with the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care (MOHLTC), Brown suggests a more future-oriented approach, focusing on long-term sustainability and opportunities to adopt a funding approach that supports a patient-centred continuum of care. The presentation was delivered on Brown’s behalf by Tai Huynh, director of MOHLTC’s Excellent Care for All strategy, at the Tools for Change Symposium hosted by The Change Foundation.
