In our search for instructive international examples of integrated health systems, The Change Foundation has looked to the UK’s National Health Service (NHS) as a model of excellence that strives to be patient-centred and accountable for outcomes. The reforms set out in the UK’s Health and Social Care Bill have the potential to improve care for patients and enhance NHS performance if they are implemented well, but they also pose a number of risks, according to this paper from The King’s Fund. The paper sets out the views of The King’s Fund on the suggested reforms that will affect commissioning, public health and market-based and provider reforms.
