A Plan to Transform Ontario’s Healthcare System: Ministry Transformation Secretariat
“The vision: To make Ontario the healthiest place in North America to grow up and grow old.”
The vision – and the challenges involved and steps required to reach it – are outlined in this presentation, given to PANORAMA panelists by Helen Angus, Associate Deputy Minister, Healthcare Transformation, Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care. Angus describes the fiscal and financial challenges, with an unflinching look at soaring health cost projections. She refers to Ontario’s Action Plan for Health Care, and presents key elements the government is focusing on as steps toward achieving its vision: Quality and Evidence; Accountability; and Integration. The talk includes examples of transformation initiatives.
