Message from the PresidentFALL 2009
Its new design, new features and new content reflect our change in function and focus – our evolution into a policy think tank dedicated to generating research, analysis and informed discussion on health integration in Ontario. We hope you find the website inviting and informative, easy to navigate and use, and relevant to your work or interests. It is of course a work in progress, and we encourage your comments, suggestions and queries – and your return visits! We are already immersed in an important policy project and in an exciting new partnership. We are working on a concept paper that will set the foundation for how we think about, analyse and assess health integration in Ontario in the future. At the same time, we have entered into a partnership with the Ontario Association of Community Care Access Centres (OACCAC) to improve the transition from hospital to ‘home' – wherever that may be – for patients and their caregivers. We will have more to report on these initiatives in the months to come. The best way to stay in the loop about these – and other -- offerings is to subscribe to our new e-newsletter, Top of Mind. It will point you to our latest work and flag upcoming events that you may want to attend. Sign up now, and you can expect our first edition before the end of the year. In the future, we will be posting Chart Packs – statistics and facts that illuminate the challenges we face in moving towards a more integrated system or successes secured. We hope you will put them to your own good use by downloading them or inserting them into your own presentations or papers. And because we know that health care is not about facts and figures – it is about faces -- you will be able to see and hear the public and health-care stakeholders weigh in on issues around health integration in our new video, Thinking Change, which will be posted on our site this fall. We hope that you will learn something from visiting our website -- whether it is a fact that gives you pause, a synthesis that raises new research questions, an analysis that prompts a change in policy or practice, or simply a new way of thinking about an old issue. We believe our new website offers a good foundation from which to build, hopefully with your reaction and interaction.
