PRESS RELEASE — Five years after seminal report, Roy Romanow to assess changes, Medicare's future at The Change Foundation AGM

Media room

TORONTO, June 4 /CNW/ - Almost five years after The Hon. Roy Romanow delivered his seminal report on health care in Canada, the author has assessed the changes, contemplated the consequences of those changes to the nature of our nation, and identified the challenges that lay ahead for a strong health-care system and a strong country.
Mr. Romanow will share this assessment during a keynote address, Canada's Shared Destiny and the Future of Medicare, at the annual general meeting of The Change Foundation Monday, June 4, 2007 at 5 p.m.
The Change Foundation is in the process of changing from a granting agency to an independent charitable organization focused on Ontario's health system integration and patient outcomes. During the meeting, President and CEO Cathy Fooks will detail what The Change Foundation plans to do and deliver over the coming years as it implements its new strategic plan, Contemplating the way we change; Changing the way we think. New Board members will be announced and the Foundation's new visual identity, which reflects its new raison d'etre as a policy and research think tank, will be unveiled.
The Change Foundation will provide unique and timely research, analysis and leadership on emerging health-care issues. It will fill a fundamental need for data, discussion, expertise and understanding in two key areas of health-care renewal in Ontario - integration and quality improvement in the
community. The Change Foundation was established by the Ontario Hospital Association in 1996 with a mandate to promote, support and improve health and the delivery of health care.
